new pump needed

Postby kieran » Mon Oct 06, 2008 10:20 pm

Hi guys, on the ROFLs bits of my old Zefal hpx pump fell off and got lost so I need to get a new pump - any recommendations?

Oh ,saw a top peak mini pump claiming 160PSI / 11 bar who the hell pumps their tyres to 11 bar?? I do mine to 7 bar. Most clinchers have a max pressure recommendation of 8 bar.

Hi Sean, I've added my comments to the thread in the sportive section but in short very wet but not cold so ok, no mishaps either so very happy.

I'd just get another Zefal. Can't beat a decent full-size pump for ease of use.

My Topeak frame pump seems to be very popular whwnever anyone gets a pwnqcha on the CR. Although it does spoil the lines of my steed. The minipumps seem to be carried for decoration only.

Decathlon's CarbOne pump - small and cheap at about £15, gets the pressure up to 80-90. Tiny little carbon pump, easy to use, lovely little number.

In fact we were on the CR the other day, Pete, Robyn , Andy and I. Halfway down Merstham Drag when Pete's rear went a little soft. Off he hopped and got his little one out, bent over double, gripped in his fist and pumping away. It wasn't getting much harder so after a while I suggested he had a go with my longer one. After some fiddling with the little flap that covers the hole he got it seated nicely and within a couple of good long strokes it was hard enough that it almost went off in his hand.
