I know, there has been a lot of snot  .

Hopefully with a load of structural work, that sort of thing will be less likely to happen

Try the cotton wool technqiue in the nostril one at a time :-

1. Nice resistance workout for diaphragm.
2. Less snot.

It's not a joke I'm being serious...It creates a more positive pressure in the lungs, which leads to a bronchodillatory effect ( more opening of the bronchioly ) This has the clear advantage of a better O2 exchange from the lungs to the blood ( remember this is going over pressure difference ) So this means an improvement of the pulmonary ventilation and the better O2 loading will increase the O2 supply to organs and tissue.

Rob what advice would you give in order to try and focus on good diaphragm breathing? What should you be focusing on? Long breathes? Belly button? Etc THanks

My goals for '09 are quite simple:

  • Support Michelle in her goal of getting a 1st cat licence.

  • Win a road race.

Have you tried just breathing through your nose while riding? This encourages a deeper breath.

Some people recommend keep a bit of water in your mouth to make you breath through your nose.

[quote="Antloony"]1. Lose the stone I put on when I was out of action for a month with my broken hand.

Managed goal 1 and still losing weight just by eating a more balanced diet.

[quote="Antloony"]2. Get out on my bike more, once a week just isn't going to see any improvements now.

Erm...well didn't manage this. Got in some good chain gang rides earlier on this year but then I kind of fizzled out once they finished.

[quote="Antloony"]3. Enter more races, try to get up to cat 3 and then cat 2 towards the end of the season.

First part on this went well, got my 3rd cat easily with a straight forward win at Hillingdon. Started off ok in a couple of the the Surrey league races but then my knee started to give me grief so had to ease up on the TG rides on the CR plus pack in the racing.

[quote="Antloony"]4. Ride up to visit my parents, a total of 200 miles in one day.

Would have been good to do this but the inconsiderate gits sodded off in the boat for a large part of the summer.

[quote="Antloony"]5. Get myself onto the track and have a bash at HH.

Went there only once to give my support to the ACC track champs, still want to give this a try as it looks like fun.

[quote="Antloony"]6. Try get the misses out on a bike.
7. Sell the bike I got for the misses when she gives up and won't use it.

Alas no joy as yet, still, it meant I got to spend the money I saved on getting her a bike by pimping my own ride.
