Hi guys,
Great to see you all on the club run at the weekend as usual. Another fine display of the south easts biggest club in action.
Just posting on here to let you know about a ride that's coming up soon, next weekend to be precise, Sunday the 19th October. Now some of you may have already got wind of this from Alan M who kindly passed on some info a few weeks ago. As that thread has sunk down a bit I thought a start a new thread for all of you to post up whether you are coming or not.
The team responsible for coming up with the idea is a couple of local artists who have done a lot of other murals and photo exhibitions around the town. Anyway the organisers were getting a bit worried about numbers when I bumped into them while out in the library last Sunday. Being the honourable sort, quiet at the back please, i kindly offered to get involved with promoting this ride which has a really good cause behind it.
Now we are all dedicated believers in the idea of the bike as a healthy, environmental form of transport but how many of your friends and family also ride bikes? Everyone has one but it's not always in the best of shape, this ride is basically an excuse for them to get the bike out of the shed and take it for a ride in a safe friendly environment, promoting the bike as an eco-friendly form of transport.
Therefore I'm asking that you could spread the good word about the bike and try and get yourself or anyone you know out on their bike on next Sunday in aid of the environment. For a map of the route go to: http://www.croydonecoexpo.com and click on the Indecent Exposure poster. Riders can arrive from 1:00pm onwards and the ride itself is starting at 2:00pm till roughly 3:00pm.
Don't worry too much about the title it's just been designed to stir up a bit of interest, the main thing is that we get as many people out on their bikes as possible to inspire others to do likewise.
I was thinking we could possibly get a group out for a longer ride afterwards if anyone else feels like it, perhaps doing a larger loop of the green spaces around Croydon.
Please do post back with any ideas or suggestions about possible routes and confirmation of your or others attendance on the ride,
It'd be great to see as many of you out as possible, fully lycra-ed up or otherwise,
How does the saying go,... ONLY THE BRAVE... Nows your chance to prove just how far you'd go for your bike!!!!:)
