Oh no he isn't! Rode out with Dan and from the off my legs felt rubbish as soon as an incline showed itself, not a good sign. We got their early and as I hadn't ridden this hill before I thought I'd have a ride up before it all kicked off. Oh deary me that is one hideous thing, disgustingly steep.

My race = pretty ropey, and finished with a fairly poor 3.12 - spun at the start, knackered myself, died in the middle a bit, bit better when I saw and heard the crowd. Good event though and thanks for the support chaps.
Dan and Paul D put in a better showing for Addiscombe. Adam was flying and put in a cracking performance.
Jody Crawforth won I think.

Here's my indepth report....It hurts and then it hurts a lot more. You turn the last bend and the noise of the crowd hits you and you make yourself hurt even more. Its all over. You wait for the white spots in front of your eyes to dissapear and after a few minutes you might even manage to stop hyperventilating.

Do's and Dont's of Hill Climbing......

Dont go so slow you topple over. This just looks silly.
Even worse whatever you do, dont smile! The crowds aren't here to see you look happy!

Do's....
Practice your grimace before the race. The bigger the grimace the bigger the cheer!

Well what can I say, it was all over in the blink of an eye. In fact any chance I might of had of doing a respectable ride went out the window the night before when I decided to go out! Ended up back at my friend Tom's place at about 4.30am, meaning we then had to ride from his to mine (with me on his spare bike in my clothes from the night before  ) for breakfast and to get my car, then boot it along to the hill climbs. Hardly ideal prep. But then we had an awesome night and my season is now officially over so who cares!!

The climb itself was annoyingly short, by the time I got going I was crossing the line. Inexperience tells.

Next time I ride a hill climb I might just train for them a little bit, and try to warm up a bit more effectively. And maybe not go out the night before!

Good rides by all though, especially Dan who almost took out a motorbike at the start...

Even better pictures by Keith, apart from cutting my head off of course... good ad for Cervélo and 2XU though!!

Try some Sodium Phosphate (legal) next time :-

(1) Increases the rate of ATP production
(2) Increases mitochondrion-enzyme activity
(3) Increases Creatine Phosphate resynthesis process
(4) Enhances Acid-Base balance during exercise
(5) Increases cardiac muscle contractility-response to exercise
(6) Stimulates glycolysis and energy metabolism
(7) May enhance psychological responses to exercise

Okay Rob, you've lost me.

What would I be taking the Sodium Phosphate for, and what do half the things on that list mean!?

Well done to everyone who took part.

What one was the hardest?

Chris Moors from the Paragon has got a good placing, he's so light in an uphill sprint is hard to beat.

Adam you just pipped Marcus, it was close
