Is it really such bad news for the sport if people are being caught?

Surely it's better to show the world that the tests are working and that the cheats are being detected?

The doping culture in cycling was never going to be eradicated over night, but I think that attitudes are changing.

People cheat at all ages in all walks of life. Going purely on the numbers there are a lot of professional cyclists and a TdF field of say 189 riders so you'll have a few in there just on the law of averages. It is a shame but the positive thing I heard on the Today programme was that the story was reported as the good work cycling is doing to catch cheats, such as re-tests, that isn't being done elsewhere. Do all the same tests in a track and field event with 189 competitors and what would turn up there?

Anyway, forget the drugs, I've delighted you have a very nice ride Marco - Far more important. It was good to see you, Bob, and Pasquale at the hill climb. You had a big smile on your face, but then you normally do so I hadn't equated it to being just down to the bike ride :D . Just need to chuck some oil at mine so it's ready for an off-road CR. I'll try not to run over any wet dead foxes on the road run back.
