Fair enough and I don't want to hijack this thread because it should all be about making sure Adam and his bike are ok...

...but you were attempting to generalise about a type of person based on the bike he was riding...

[quote="Sean Hogan - 何祥"]It's a long shot, but helmets and fixies don't mix. So, I'd say a no.

And that is not healthy...

[quote="Sean Hogan - 何祥"]Point taken, but that said I have rarely seen anyone on a fixie wearing a helmet. Have you?

I see one most days when I'm commuting.

Oh, ouch ouch ouch! Sorry about the bad news, really hope everything is relatively ok, and don't mind Huw ranting about his (your) bike, it's just his way.

Go and see a physio about 1 week after the event to get your head straightened out ( :D ), it's worth the £30, believe me, even on a studen grant.

My turn tonight. I got hit by a bus. Long story but basically said bus tried to over take me in a gap that was only wide enough for the bus and not me. The bus scraped by elbow and I had to lean into the bus to avoid going under its wheels. I stopped the bus...got the usual 'didn't see you'. Explained that he must have seen me as I'd been sat directly in front of him in a bright green luminous reflective jacket at the traffic lights we'd pulled away from 30 seconds before.

Anyway I got all his details and went to the police as the bus made contact with me and grazed my elbow. Police took a statement and are going to speak to the driver and then hopefully procede with a charge of driving without due care and attention.

I've never ever been so scared so much in all my life, I honestly thought I was going to go under the wheels and that would be it, game over. I really hope they do this prick for this and he gets the sack. It's a good job I was strong enough to keep myself up right using the bus, had it been a kid it would have been a far worse outcome.

Glad you're okay. I find buses the worst on the commute. They used to be the best driven vehicles on the road but over the last few years the standards have really dropped.

This is how Cyclists DIE. So MAKE SURE you take the time to send a letter of complaint to his garage stating that you've reported it to the police - chances are he'll have to at least face a grilling by his manager, and might get a suspension in the meantime. Those police follow-ups can take a long time.

Just seen this now - sorry to hear about this, but glad you're OK, Adam. I also found it refreshing that you're able to be philosophical about it and recognise that accidents happen and the driver isn't necessarily Satan.

I'm also pleased to hear you've got a solid trade behind you - I had no idea you were
