I'm with Mr A1size here - at least as far as Assos cream is concerned, it's the best I've tried

Mind you I don't bother for anything less than a 50

thanks for all the advice lads...im sure i can find a use for all of it...though admittedly not all for cycling matters

i went for a 3 hour ride today and it was excruciating! i would have to brace myself each time i got in or out the saddle, and i would be shouting obscenities every time i hit a bump in the road.

ive cleaned thoroughly (thats not to say i dont keep it clean down there ordinarily!), and applied anti septic creams, trimmed the foliage ....it made it look much bigger...the saddle sore that is! i'm wearing my loosest and most un-cool boxers, and im going to take a couple of days off, which fits in nicely with the rest i need for my LBP test

Stu,
good to see that the caring ACC members share your pain.
I rode a 50 TT with a humungous saddle sore and it hurt like (was going to put "b*ggery" but just realised in time). I even went to the doctor as I thought I had groin cancer or something.
Can you swap saddles so that the pressure is different?
I swapped from a softer arione to a firm toupe and it made the world of difference.

Cheers Rob......

Moooooving on, the doctor says it'll be fine soon

Sudicrem is the choice for me. Used it a few months and it worked like a dream! (after the Brighton run)

I'm with Mr.M on the Assos, although as he says not minty fresh anymore, just a cool blue colour. Use to good effect on a 100 and a 12hr and could still walk afterwards.

I miss the dull burning sensation of the old Assos cream, hope they change it back again.

Cheers

Really good for TT's cos you can't wait to get the damn things off again so go as fast as you can

Stu,
I was told by my good friend the Doctor that cream wasn't the best thing, but a liquid that will dry out is better as it does not harbour the bacteria and suggested Witch hazel, and it worked well for me after the "12"

Yeah had a few nasty saddle sores myself this year. :(
Personally I find the best remedy is to:
1. always use a decent chamois cream for any distance. (can't recall the make of the one I've got but its sort of medicated)
2. once I've got a saddle sore, lots of baths and plenty of sudocrem on it.
3. and lay off the bike for a few days/week and jog instead.

Yep, and give it to the chef for din-dins once you'd tenderised it :D .

Sounds like Marek's steak would need to be marinated in something spicy first.
