London Cross League 6

Postby George » Sun Oct 19, 2008 10:50 pm

Somebody please remind me never to ride 2 events in the same day

This week was a bit different from last week, here's my tale of woe

Didn't get a good start still not perfected clipping the left foot in yet so was in about 15th position into the singletrack.

This course is a little boring and is just a 1 hour flat out blast round school playing fields with a couple of hurdles up a hill and a really nasty sandpit that was bottomless and had a dropoff into it.

I made up a few places and caught the front grou, but lap after lap I was loosing the power from my legs, I was ending up standing on the pedels when everyone else was seated just to keep the same speed.

I lost contact with the group and was on my own for a bit, later I almost bonked
I had really given my all in the Redmon TT in the morning and was dearly paying the price for it now.
The legs just kept screaming "She cannie take ne more capt'n"

Last lap had a duel with Kevin Knox, he was unlucky to get tape caught in his rear cassette and had to run his bike over the finish line.
At the end I was so knackered I could hardly ride bak up the field to the van.

Got back home and zonked out on the sofa, boy I hope I can recover for the Wednesday Clubroom Test

Don't worry I'll be back in top condition next week for the next chapter of "LONDON CROSS LEAGUE" :D :D
here you can see the pain on my face

What did we say to you in the cafe on Saturday, I think it was something like, wasn't the last time you did two events you bonked and really suffered. Sounds like it was tough, have you learnt your lesson yet?

Good effort big fella, riding through sandpits, I would have just stopped next to it, laid out a towel and built some castles.

Cheers

Sounds like a tough day George, now you know what a soul-less course is like!

I was having a hard time when sometimes racing Palace then Beastway the following day, so can't begin to imagine what two hard races in one day can be like ...

Would have been interesting to see your result riding at 100% with the big boys racing this week

I'm sure you'll be fine after three days' recovery though

What's going on with the results there!

Amazing George. When Dominic said you'd shot off for this I thought you must have been mad as you'd have had to go all out on the TT.

Despite all that, suffering, and nearly bonking, you still got 12th place.
