David,

Sounds like a nice long hilly ride! What's the pace likely to be like? I know you're pretty quick so would someone like me who usually goes in the steady 17 group be able to keep the pace?

If so, would be interested in having a go along with the old man, Ben - if he's up for it too!

Cheers,

Jackie

Hi Jackie
We sit between 18/20mph on the flats. On the hills, Marek waits for us all at the top (!). The dual carriageway section is 25/30mph.
Cheers

I am not waiting David, it is the only chance that I get to have a rest and get my breath back after trying to keep up with you on the flats.

Cheers

Thanks for your response, David.

I have a feeling that it may be just a tad too fast for me and I'd be dropped in a second, particularly on the hills.

Have a good ride all of you and if you're in the cafe - see you there.

Cheers,

Jackie

On the way home we could go back via Box Hill, much more fun than going over to Merstham, see how we feel after the first part of the ride I suppose.

See you on Sat, am looking forward to it already.

Cheers

Hey thanks for the ride guys (Dave. F, Dave, Merek and Max)...I've still got to improve on my speed endurance. After 3 hours at zone 3 pace I was bloody knackered!... I had to peel off and take things at my own pace...Total time spent in the saddle 7 hours. ...I bonked when I got back to croydon so it was very slow 20 miles back to GOONER Territory!...Hey Merek if thats your idea of 'leisurely pace' don't call me when you're gonna do a hard ride. Seriously dude you were flying.! NO CHAIN!! as Lance and 'the boys in blue' used to say! - I think you'll be a 2nd cat very quickly... However your failure not to grap even a podium spot on the race up hardest climb (25%) of the day will help keep me motivated till the serious racing starts.

Peace Toks

PS Is super AJ still riding?

I have to admit that I was feeling pretty good today. I am starting to get the racing urge and am already looking forward to mid March. I probably overdid it a bit today, but when you feel good you kinda can't help but go for it, makes a nice change as I am usually gasping for breath behind Dave Findlay.

If you fancy the same again next weekend then maybe get the train down to CSS from Victoria to save your legs a bit. Was good to see you out and we should look at entering some races together this year. Do you fancy Alfold in mid march?

Cheers

sounds like you're flying Marek, that mean you're gonna peak in March and your season will be over in april? just a general question so i know when to avoid you

I was thinking about that Rob and I am not sure. I have been doing some specific turbo sessions over the last month and these seem to have brought on the race form. Maybe too early as you say. I haven't really thought about any specific races that I am targetting yet, just thought I would see how it goes at the beginning of the season.

In some ways I think that I am not really that bothered if I am riding well now because I really enjoyed myself today, maybe it will mean I won't enjoy some races later in the season due to being tired, but so be it.

See you soon

Cheers
