If you fancy a Sunday ride............

Postby Paul on the Pearson » Wed Oct 22, 2008 2:12 pm

I've just posted this in case anyone fancies a Sunday ride. I joined GS Avanti about 8 weeks ago and usually theres anywhere between 4 and 12 riders out. Some times more. A great bunch and a good blast around Kent is had by all, usually 60 miles at about an 18i/19ish average with plenty of spirited attacks along the way, although no one gets dropped. Theres about 4 different routes so it alternates from week to week. We meet at The Oak pub on the Green Street Green roundabout which is about 5 miles out of Bromley on the main road and not far from Knockholt where some of vhe early season reliability rides start from. This Sunday we'er meeting at 7.30 at the usual place far a blast down to Rye, hopefully at an average of 19mph. Theres also a regular slower group that I think leaves a bit later for a more gentle pootle.

Hi Paul

I was wondering where the Addiscombe boys go if they fancy a Sunday run
If any are interested, they are very welcome to join either of our 2 Avanti Sunday runs

Thanks and see you Sun, dodgy or not

Regards

Michael

Paul, you had me going there for a moment, until I saw the start time  .

7.30? Late October? On a Sunday? Even with the clocks going back, no good will come of it I tell you.

My thoughts exactly... or rather, "s*d that for a game of soldiers". Sounds a nice ride - especially the pootlers bit - but for me to get up and over to Knockholt way for even a bit later ...

So, 9.30am at CSS, anyone? Not a fast ride, I'll probably still be a bit wheezy from my cough/cold but I'm thinking of heading out on my Balcombe ride, have lunch at a cafe somewhere and head back.

And presumably coming back again? 120 mile round trip I reckon.

Can't do this week Paul but may join you, and indeed them, for the odd ride over winter. If you average 19s to Rye and back then you'll be going some if it's anything like the route we went earlier this year as it was pretty rolling.

Anyone who wants to go to Rye and back but can't make this one then I will be going a few times (or little variations - Battle etc) at varying times over the coming months but some of the winter rides will need good lights (not commuting LEDs) as I'll be starting some of them early to get a bit of night riding in, or earlier morning when it's still dark at any rate.

As Jon says from there it'd be about 120 miles, was 150 to and from Croydon, but really nice roads out that way. Don't forget your fudge at ye olde sweet shoppe, fantastic stuff. Loads of nice sweets you don't see anymore all in the big jars :D . I'm making sure I take my rack-pack next time I go :P .
