I've had better weeks....

Postby Keith » Sat Oct 25, 2008 6:49 pm

 • Monday I found out that someone had stolen my identidy, changed my address and had a new set of credit cards issued.

 • Tuesday I got knocked off my bike by a car.

 • Yesterday I "went-over"on my ankle, heard 2 cracks, and now I'm on crutches. I've been told not to expect to be back on a bike for 2 weeks.

I sincerely hope the expression "bad news comes in threes" applies to me!

Blimey Keith, been through the mill a bit. Look on the positive side though.

1) Hearing cracks and being on crutches sounds like it was a nasty "turn" so 2 week recovery actually sounds better than it could have been - could have been nasty ligament damage.
2) If you've been forced to take a break then now is the perfect time. End of the season, nice rest to recharge the batteries and then you can start your winter training/riding nice and fresh.
3) A forced rest means that you get a chance to fully recover from the bump with the car, can't do any harm and will make sure things heal properly before you get back on the velo.

There you go not so bad after all. :D

Keith, I will be around tomorrow morning to drop off the kids so you can babysit while I go out for a ride on my velo. Cheers mate, every cloud has a silver lining. Is 8am ok?

Cheers

I did wonder in the split second after I did it whether it was going to be a life changing moment.

I'd aready have a few weeks off the bike and away from training. Looking at next weeks Siberian weather, I'm lucky that I can't be on the bike. Brrr!

Definitely. Since knackering my left anke, I'm relying on my right side which I landed on in the crash. I realise now that I it needs time to heal.

now might be an excellent oppurtunity to apply for a couple more credit cards-get yourself a nice new bike & something for the kitchen as a present for the wife

then when the bill comes deny all knowledge & blame it on the gimp who nicked your identity :D

hope you're up&about soon.

Oi, 'the wife' will want a brand new bike as well if he is going to get a brand new bike. Sod the bloody kitchen.

Sounds like you don't know that me an Keith are married, or are you just stirring it up?

Nice idea Dan, but it's actually pretty easy to spot.

Keith, you might want to think about taking steps to prevent further applications being made in your name. Have a look at http://www.cifas.org.uk/default.asp?edit_id=565-85.

Unlucky Keith, like Andrew says, a forced period of rest is not always so bad.

Look what it did for me last year!

Just think, if you hadn't had that time off you may have put in some decent race results. :D
