Today's commute

Postby mrP(Boonen)VT » Mon Oct 27, 2008 5:11 pm

Ok, my ride is a bit longer and tougher than it was from Croydon, but to ride through the lanes and see the sunrise over Boxhill this morning was just fantastic... :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Hope you enjoyed your commutes

Nice - I like seing the sun rise over Tower Bridge while riding over London Bridge, it's not bad a view either.

The change of clocks will motivate me to get up earlier for a longer ride, and in the evening it's just as well, as I prefer to be riding in the pitch black than when night is just about to fall - feels safer.

I was off as well. All I managed was a 6 mile road/cross country run with my two oldest on their bikes. Good fun though :!:

GuruP, what is the difference mileage wise :?:

Dan, I saw you in Sutton, racing the lights at around 9ish, must have been a nice ride.

Off work every day ....
Did a great 43 miler into Kent on Monday - Addington-Lingfield-Crockhamhill- 4 Elms- Chiddingtone - back, hilly, lane up to Sevenoaks- Sundridge-Pilgrims Way-Botley Hill-Addington.
How about this, adapted, as an Alternative Clubrun?

I'm just loving showing all those fat miserable bastards sitting in their cars on the A23 that its quicker to do short-medium distances by bike than by car and ten times more fun :D

Which way do you go Andrew?

I am usually heading along the A23 from Merstham to Croydon most days (not this week as it is half-term) about 9ish. Sometimes I even wear an Addiscombe top :D

Tell me about it, I get the odd call at work to tell me he's somewhere nice and enjoying his jaunt  .

Little Green Man Sr - Have a word with John about doing a 15s run out that way some time and see if you can sort something out or what the interest is. I'm going to be doing a few different routes, and some out our neck of the woods, over the winter months. The trickier bit is sorting out a route to get to the Addington / Botley area that isn't too main roady or adds too many miles on (if that's an issue) to the rest of the ride. One possibility is starting from GBs rather than CSS and going straight up to Selsdon and straight over the at the lights but you'd have to make sure everyone interested knew in advance of the different meeting place - oh and if you've arranged it you can't bottle out if it rains  .

Well I only come back along the A23 actually from Kingswood to Purley as a bit of a higher pace route. I skip it out on the way in to mix it up a little and go up along Foxley Lane into Woodmansterne and then down Rectory Lane to join Chipstead Valley Road again. Only a little blast, wish it was longer really!
I'll look out for an Addiscombe top coming the other way in future then :D
