Regular winter midweek rides

I usually keep others informed of these in case they can come along. All are made welcome. Expect a slower shorter ride on Thursdays but I usually do between 60 and 85 miles back to Croydon and normally leave Sanderstead around 9 am. You will enjoy the steady rides and occasional sprints. Mudguards are preferred if it is wet but it isn't a rule. Cafe stops are usually good and sometimes there are different groups returning by more direct routes. I try to do at least one a week depending on the weather.

enjoy

Alan

I can highly recommend these rides, if you have a day off or are a student with a load of holiday then these are great. The guys know some great routes down some great country lanes, I went out with them last week and rode down a number of roads I have never been down and they were not far from the club run. Good cafes as well, these old boys certainly like to have their cake and eat it. Was even racing up a couple of hills against guys in their seventies, inspirational stuff.

Cheers

Marek....

Alan, don't suppose you could map out the general routes and I'll hijack them for use of alternative CRs and Sunday rides (if the cafes are open on a Sunday...) :?: I could always bring maps and a pencil out on a clubrun if the idea of using the mapping sites for all these routes is too much :D

I already have a Balcombe ride but alternative routes are always welcome :D

Sorry Amy, I am geographically challenged and usually just follow the wheel in front! Also, the rides vary each week and even rides to the same place vary quite a lot.

Or if you are unemployed, retired, on incapacity benefit, paternity/maternity leave, garden leave, throwing a sickie or otherwise available ..... I am expecting to see Mssrs Ross and brand quite soon!

Today's ride to Sumner Ponds was fine with the first chill of winter. I did 75 Miles and had an average of 16.5, then recovered with a nap on the sofa!

At least you're honest - hope you also ask for directions too and the rest of your family has a better sense of direction

OK, I'll see if I can track down these places - I know where most of them are - and plot some routes to them for use later in the year.

Today's meeting was a gem, probably 20 of us in a fast and slower group arriving at Barns Green (Sumner Ponds)around 12.pm - On the 16th we go back there for a Christmas lunch preceded by a 2 hour ride. Geraldine has offered to drive me over so it should be quite a nice event. As we often do we rode Weare Street today http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?utm_campa ... erm=street and apart from its uneven surface it has to be one of the prettiest lanes in Surrey. Got home around 2.45 after 73 miles at an average of 16 mph. I even won the Newdigate sprint, although admittedly the best riders went a different route back! More on Thursday weather permitting :D
