Following on from my knock; (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7266&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=mayday) they admitted full liability last week and they have now been sent all my expenses... hopefully i will get something for my pain and suffering too.

I am so glad some of my first posts were about insurance as mine has been well used!

The met police have been useless tho, but there we go, same old story.

I now commute to a different place (was doing coulsdon to west wickham) but now going to sutton, so thats got its dangerous bits, like the road up the side of banstead woods in the pitchblack dark, or the A217 mad mile at any time... or the buses and junctions from the 217 into sutton, but nothign quite as fraught as croydon town centre hehe!

However its too cold to wear my ACC top, so i am in my Campag winter ipod jacket!... undercover ACC!

Don't worry, not another "man down", just an update on my last vehicular assisted dismount.

I've received a letter from Surrey Police. Its content is exactly as expected.

If you're cycling down a straight road, in broad daylight, wearing bright reflective clothing and you get knocked off your bike by a car that, whilst still overtaking you, decides to turn left with no warning, this is the level of justice you can expect:

So that's three club members hit by vehicles in Surrey this year (Adam vs van, Grahame vs pickup and Keith vs car), and in each case they have declined to take any action.

Is it time we thought about a letter to the chief constable or the IPCC?

I have been very lucky then, as the lady who hit me took full responsibility and the insurance company just paid out with no quibbles,

Also they are improving the visibility on that corner where she pulled out from... result.. (i should be in one of those adverts! haa haa )

Some years ago I was knocked off my bike by a motorcyclist turning right in front of me. Swapped details just in case, but it wasn't until later that I found out I'd broken my shoulder.

His insurers paid up for the damage to me (none suffered by the bike) without too much trouble as he admitted liability without me having to do anything other than write one letter. Imagine my surprise though when I got a letter from Plod to say that the motorcyclist had been to them and told them what had happened but (get this) they weren't going to pursue it further.

So, we have another road user basically saying that he's caused an accident, it was his fault, the other party has suffered an injury - and still they decide not to do anything. This was just a few months after I picked up a fine for, shock horror, not stopping at a zebra crossing when a couple of rozzers were starting to cross on the other side of it.

As I say though, this was years ago and I'm over it now, not bitter or anything, oh no .
