Addiscombe parents - 7-10 year old Cycling sessions

Postby huw williams » Thu Nov 06, 2008 10:35 am

As mentioned a little while back - Our kids coaching sessions are now ready to go.

So if you have a 7 to 10 year old who you want to get taught the basics of good riding - in a fun, traffic free environment, I'm doing a series of sessions on sunday mornings and would love to have you along.

All held locally at Monks Hill Sports Centre where there is ample parking, changing rooms and toilet facilities. Sessions will last about 1 hour and run in advance of the grown-ups sessions, details of which you can find here:

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8122

The sessions will be run under BC Go-Ride guidelines which mean they are a) fully insured and b) the coach (me) is fully qualified to deliver the sessions, CBR checked and a qualified First Aider

Interested? - then PM me to get signed up.
The first session is on 30th November and depending on interest I'll set up subsequent sessions to create a short series covering all aspects of riding.
DO NOT TURN UP UNANNOUNCED - For insurance purposes I need you to be registered in advance and you'll need to fill in a parental consent form (which I can provide)

The only thing you need is a child with a bike and a helmet and we're good to go.

I thank you
Huw

I, errr, I mean, Keira, would love a go. Trouble is she's not 6 until New Year's Eve :(

On a week where I come along to help, I may bring her just to see how much more fun the bike is compared to marshalling with her old man

My mother works in adoption, (aka selling children )

So I’m sure she can help out all you … ‘singletons’, ‘single sex marriages’, and the ‘unable to’ 

Good point - could anyone with kids OUTSIDE the 7-10 age bracket who would like sessions like this please post here so we can get an idea of numbers to organise their respective age groups please

Are there any left? I thought Madonna and Angelina Jolie had got them all.

Out of my lot , my youngest is not riding yet ,and Charlie who is 9 will obviously fit into the 7-10 age group . But Tom 6 and Eddie 11 would like to have a go .

Cheers

Keira Snoop is 6
Carl Ferri's son is 6
Tom is 6

So that's enough for a six year olds group which we can easily incorporate into the session on the day if you want to bring 'em along.
And as Eddie is 11 I can't see any reason to leave him out if we get sufficient number of 7-10 year olds

Oh and by the way, children sometimes feel better about this sort of thing if they have friends along. so feel free to ask their mates - all they need is a bike and a helmet and to let me know in advance - so ask your neighbours and children's friends' parents too. This is not strictly for ACC only, we want as many new riders as possible

Any more for any more???

And don't forget to let me know if you have kids in the 13-16 bracket you want a dedicated session for - we have unlimited access to the sports centre so let's use it and get croydon council to give us some money :D

I'd have thought you had a full field once Apples mentioned his litter.

Andrew, as you are a) local and b) of the requisite height, I think I can count on you to guest as one of the 'experts' on this session :D

I can probably pop over and shove a few kids off bikes if you like, will have to go for a ride afterwards, but if you want to lose your kids give me a shout and I can drop 'em off in the middle of the countryside for you and let you have a few hours peace and quiet until they find their way home.
