Cyclo Cross Skill Session at Penshurst

Postby Maria David » Mon Nov 17, 2008 2:53 pm

Just to let you know there'll be a cyclo cross skills session at Penshurst in the morning before the Addiscombe promotion.
Anyone who wants to learn abit about what to do can show up at PORC at 11am as Emma Wood (the cyclo cross coach) will be running the training session.
She welcomes newbies to cyclo cross - especially women. Maybe one for Ms Heritage and a few of the guys. I'll be there as well. Anyway, the details are as shown below (and on the LCS website).
Note, mtb's are welcome - you are welcome to attend the session without having to race afterwards - but you never know, you might quickly catch the bug. :)

Are you unsure of getting round corners? Worried about those muddy descents ? Well, this could be the session for you.

On 23rd November there's a cyclo-cross skills session at Penshurst Off Road Cycling Centre.

Coach Emma Wood will take you around the cyclo-cross trails and show you how to ride them. You will also learn how to mount and re-mount your bike, cyclo-cross riding etiquette, and other skills.

The session is aimed at newbies to cyclo-cross, and women in particular. Mountain bikes are most welcome

Meet at 11am in the car park.

Penshurst is here: http://www.thebestof.co.uk/maps/..

More info and detailed directions on: http://www.ukdirt.com/porc/

As there's a London League Cyclo-cross race on that afternoon (at 2pm), you can even put your skills into practice straight after the session.

Interested ?
Meet at the car park on 23rd November @ 11am.

Ooh, those corners - I was a bit sketchy last year - but the nervousness was all part of the fun !

Yep, Emma thought Penshurst would be a good venue to run a session.

Cheers for the shout Maria, really enjoyed watching and marshalling last years event.
Like to possibly give the course a go this year on my mountian bike of course!!
Without my little vespa scooter to get down there i'm a bit stuck for getting down there!!
Might be getting a lift down with a photographer friend of mine if i can convince her to come and stand in the cold all day!!!
Marco, are you going to be racing cough cruising around the course again this year? You did real well finishing last year!!! :D
