[quote="Andrew G"]The run out was reasonably smooth. Although some of us are happy to lead a group all the way round it doesn't take in to account that others may want to lead for a while too, so I do tend to call rotations on the basis that it might keep more happy than unhappy. Today we did longer stints up front so everyone could have a good go up front and then called double rotations to keep sliding through the group. Seemed to work okay so maybe something to continue with.
Yep I'll second that, it did work well, I could see that clearly from shirking and hiding at the back of the group most of the ride.
Not often I do that though, I only sat there because I've had a cold and a cough so wanted a fairly comfortable ride. I did do a stint at the front though with Mr
who hadn't even realised I was with his group.
Ride out was uneventful for a change, some good banter, lots of chatting and no where near the artic conditions we'd been promised. Lovely to see the sun shining through the bare tree's, a sure sign that winters here.
Sprint was a good one. a couple of false starts by Adam before the final bends just to string out the group a little. Lockey made an early break for glory but eveyone ignored him knowing he'd run out of steam after 20 yards
. It all came back together on the last bend and I sat in about 5th place on Steve B's wheel with Adam and Stu in close company, these guys being the dangerous ones (good to see you back Stu). As we came round the bend I just hammered it and took them all by suprise and went the long way round and just went for it, over taking them all. Was a really close finish, I could see Adam's shadow coming round me to my right but I just had one more dig to pip him on the line as I literally threw my bike over it. Couldn't have timed it better. Guess I may have suprised one or two people who've never seen me sprint.
Good ride back, I didn't go to mad untill near the end where temptation took over, paying for it now though as Im sat here coughing for all Im worth.
Another agreeable saturday, good to see so many out and catch up with a few people who I've not seen for a while.
Cheers all
