[quote="Mark Cavendish"]If this was a crashing fall to earth, worse was to follow. Cavendish borrowed a medal from one of his team-mates only to be stopped at check-in by a stewardess with polite words to the effect of: 'My boyfriend follows cycling and I know you didn't win that.'

So, he is prepared to cheat and lie to get what he wants. Not such a great example?

" I know you didn't win that, but I do know what else you've done this year, so go and join your mates up front" might have reflected better on BA though ...

British Airways, British Cycling it's all one(1) big cabal innit.

As far as I'm concerned Road Racing the pinnacle & all the rest is just a side-show.

plus I'm a bit put off by all the mad nationalism&narrow focus of british cycling as an organisation, its all a bit weird & franlky iffy :?

Mark Cavendish's the most succedsful&promising (male) british rider in yonks.

Chapeau & all that.

Hoy would have been dropped a long-time before the sprint finish.... First incline and he'd be stuffed. He is a fat boy!

That sums up quite a few peoples opinions on BC that I know of.

Is it not about time that BC spent a bit more on developing road riders rather than go for the glory every 4 years?

And this British Cycling Sky team is not neccesarily the right way to go about it... :?

So long as it was at the bottom of a steep hill Tony should be okay.

I think the trouble is that BC's funding is largely dependent on "success". At the moment, the measure of "success" is Olympic medals. There are more medals available on the track than in all the other cycling disciplines combined (ie road (2), TT (2), mountainbike (2) and BMX (2)) so that is where they concentrate. This brings me back to my old gripe - "What do BC do for the grass roots cyclist?"

And i'll join you on that note Grahame.

What do BC do for anyone who isn't part of the Talent Team, Olympic Development Plan/World Class Performance Plan or the Academy over in Italy?

Oh, and they told England's only rider potentially capable of winning the Tour to ride the track or bugger off. He didn't want to, consequently he's now Irish. So good old Ireland get to win the Tour... again.

What planet are they on!?

No misrepresentation at all.

I reported the facts.

Fact:
He didn't win a medal at the olympics.
Fact:
Medal winners were given Club class or First Class seats back from the olympics, other athletes were seated in Premium Economy.
Fact:
Cavendish borrowed a medal to pass himself off as a medal winner and get an upgrade he hadn't "earned" according to the rules.
Fact/conclusion:
He attempted to cheat the system and he got caught.

Where's the misrepresentation or the straw man?
