The website or the Forum? With respect, the website doesn't reflect the active club that Addiscombe is - it's content is pretty out of date.

London's Top Cycling Club - now that will will irk London Dynamo

Mabe we should say UK's top cycling club (but I suppose our demographics are London) but there again I prefer the London Dynamo angle

How are you judging this?

I don't like "fun cycling club", it sounds too twee and could dissuade any who wanted to race.

"Top" is a lovely vague word where you could apply the statistics rule of just tweaking it to be a measure of whatever suits your case. Could upset or annoy some like London Dynamo though.

I don't think there is a need or a point in having anything that is anti, or even might upset, any other clubs, particularly local ones. There's enough anti-cyclist rubbish knocking about to have silly in-fighting (even if jokey does it come across that way to an outsider?). Fine as in-jokes between clubs but unless you are "in" then it can be off putting.

I think a link to the digest is good idea as it's more current and has a link to the website/forum - maybe copy in the welcome/meet/contact bit from the website to an easy to see link at the top?

Rather than "Top" howzabout "London's Complete Cycling Club"
The only thing about saying testosterone free is that it might imply that they are women only rides or groups, or even a sub-section of the club. I'm not convinced by my quick stab at the word switching but what about...
"Shake off the winter blues with Addiscombe CC. Ego free rides to suit all abilities from convenient location in South London"
???

How about:

'From mountain bikes to full blown carbon fibre racing machines we will have a group that matches your ability, or lack of it. You will leave with a smile, new friends and be that little bit fitter (or fatter depending on how many cakes you eat at the cafe). Addiscombe cycling club, London's premier cycling club for those that want to have fun on a bike.'

Cheers

Speaking as a female (though probably not representative of the type you're trying to attract having ridden with mostly male groups since I was a child) I don't think something that mentions testosterone, even in the negative, would appeal to me...

I like Marek's blurb :D Can be trimmed by a few words

Well, I think the club trying to attract women who have taken up cycling recently and who do not realise that there is a cycling club culture out there. I've never known anything different having ridden with the local CTC groups with my father as a child on the tandem and then on a solo. Oh yes, and I know it's a male dominated sport/pastime - I've all too often been the only female in a group (especially longer, harder rides in the past). And as you know, I can give as good as I get - hopefully I'll get my fitness back to kick some @rses on rides and hills 8)

Where does the testosterone come in on that - it's only because they don't expect a girl to be sitting on their wheel giving them grief

Wonderful double take from Huw's ex flatmate, Simon Smythe, when I cruised up the Merstham drag behind him and Huw at 18mph - he'd been expecting to see me some way down the road

And I've had the odd funny look as I shoot past on my bike along with the remark, " that was a girl" so I know what might stop women from joining a cycling club. Just not quite sure what would attract them into a club such as a racing club rather than say, Pollards Hill, though the thing I like about the ACC is the fact that you don't get dropped (unless you're an old hand) and you have the groups to help you improve and move up.

So perhaps something along the lines of "Join the Agreeables Cycling Club. Find your cycling legs (and bum) with a friendly cycling club who'll get you out into Surrey lanes with structured groups to improve your fitness whatever your level of riding and we won't leave you behind. Improve your riding skills and find new friends and roads with the Addiscombe CC."

Can we have two pictures? I think a picture of the other Michelle (the nurse) would be good as she's at the opposite end to Michelle L in terms of cycling which would show the type of people we have already attracted.
