Checking stolen bike

Postby Ivor » Tue Dec 09, 2008 1:14 pm

Ok... How do I check whether a bike is stolen?
As you may know I had mine nicked earlier this year and I'm browsing for a replacement.
So apart from using my scooby senses, if I get the serial number of a second hand bike is there any way I can check it?

Call your local police station? If it was reported stolen and the number given it'd be on a database for them to check against I'd have thunk.

I'll see if all the questions I'm asking the seller put him off. :) He's promised to call me back with the serial number.

[quote="sean"]If it isn't where you last left it then it is fair to say it has been stolen.

That being so, my socks and pants must be stolen on a regular basis - I leave them on the end of the bed and next time I look.....they've gone

No Paul, that's the housework fairy who magically transforms them from dirty socks and pants into clean socks and pants.
