Can't you lot read? Get on the path!

Amy and others, you can print this out for the stupid drivers we keep bumping into.

Our eldest daughter is learning to drive at the moment so I thought I'd have a look through her highway code.

The OFFICIAL HIGHWAY CODE
Revised 2007 Edition
Sixth impression 2008
ISBN 978-0-11-552814-9

Rule 63 Cycle lanes
These are marked by a white line (which may be broken) along the carriageway. When using a cycle lane, keep within the lane when practicable.
When leaving a cycle lane check before pulling out that it is safe to do so and signal your intention clearly to other road users.
Use of cycle lanes is not compulsory and will depend on your experience and skill, but they can make your journey safer.

Rule 64
You MUST NOT cycle on a pavement.

Rule 66 You should
Keep both hands on the handlebars except when signalling or changing gear.
Keep both feet on the pedals
Never ride more than two abreast, and ride in single file on narrow or busy roads and when riding round bends.
Not ride close behind another vehicle.
Not carry anything which will affect your balance or may get tangle up with your wheels or chain.
Be considerate of other road users, particularly blind and partially sighted pedestrians. Let them know you are there when necessary, for example, by ringing your bell if you have one. It is recommended that a bell be fitted.

Rule 69 You MUST obey all traffic signs and traffic light signals.

Please feel free to add comments, I was so tempted

Just as well the code is more guidelines ay, as apposed to actual rules...

I've never known an ACC CR to do it, but it does help to stay single file on some roads. Most other groups I ride with do this. Keeps the motorists happy you know... less murderous. Particularly on roads with solid white centre lines.

But the riding round bends part!?

Use of cycle lanes is not compulsory and will depend on your experience and skill, but they can make your journey safer or less safe, especially when merging with the main road network/ near bus stops, also watch out for street furniture and kerbs, glass, pedestrians, and private driveways.

Rule 64
You MUST NOT cycle on a pavement.

Rule 66 You should
Keep both hands on the handlebars except when signalling or changing gear.or drinking from a water bottle, or getting food from a pocket/bag/ or scratching yourself or making friendly signals to car drivers
Keep both feet on the pedals except when getting on/off and if stopped, unless you can do a track stand, then go to the front of the jam and hover in front of the cars showing off your skills
Never ride more than two abreast, and ride in single file on narrow or busy roads and when riding round bends.
Not ride close behind another vehicle. not even in congested rush hour traffic
Not carry anything which will affect your balance or may get tangle up with your wheels or chain. but you may dangle up to 3 shopping bags from each side of the handlebars if you cycle slowly
Be considerate of other road users, particularly blind and partially sighted pedestrians. and be careful of seemingly blind drivers Let them know you are there when necessary, for example, by ringing your bell if you have one.or by friendly hand signals It is recommended that a bell be fitted.

Rule 69 You MUST obey all traffic signs and traffic light signals.
Rule 66 You should
Keep both hands on the handlebars except when signalling or changing gear or showing off when warming up on rollers

Never ride more than two abreast, and ride in single file when riding round bends except when riding a Devil on the track when it's OK to ride ten abreast round the banking when attempting not to be last across the line.

Not ride close behind another vehicle except when slipstreaming buses in the bus lane

It is recommended that a bell be fitted so you have to take a hand away from the brakes just when you might have to use them
