Good to see that they were rewarded (all 3 awards) for their superb achievements when so many of the big sports deliver such dross most of the time.
It has had a big impact on the way people view us out on the road too . I may have become a wizard over the weekend as I was invisible today.
This morning I got a nice friendly pat on the shoulder...from the wing mirror of an ambulance . Only gentle and no harm done but I suggested (very calmly in a normal voice) that perhaps he might want to indicate and look before moving next time. He just hurrumpffed and adopted a Daily Mail stance telling me we (I think he means you as well) are all just a bloody nuisance etc etc.
Funny moment on the way home though. I was coming down Anerley Hill and fortunately just started slowing down as I was approaching a red light, still doing about 30mph at that stage though, when someone stepped out in to the road in front of me. I short, sharp, loud, "Oi!" and I steered round him. The funny bit was the way he looked, I've never seen anyone so scared in my life. He completely froze rigid apart from a slight quiver at the end of his arms . Change of underwear due there I think, and he may even walk the 20 yards or so to the traffic lights to cross next time.
