New joiner - 80-90miles steady on Sunday

Postby JamesMac » Thu Feb 17, 2005 9:08 pm

Hi

I'm new to Addiscombe and went out cycling with you on Saturday 5th for the first time and really enjoyed it. I will be coming on the club run this Saturday.

I'm currently training for Ironman France in June and am keen to get lots of bike miles in over the weekends. As I'm new to the area (Purley) and don't know many routes, I would appreciate both some company for the road and some direction (so there's no excuse to stop and consult the map!). So, does anybody want to ride a steady 80-90 miles (18mph?) on Sunday morning?

James it is your lucky day. A few of us are planning on doing a long ride on Sunday. Leaving CSS at 8am, nice and early so can get back in time for lunch. Will probably be around the pace you indicated and also want to do around 80 miles.

So far have Dave F, Max and myself so come along.

Cheers

hi Rob, if you are in Brighton then probably not, was thinking about going out into the Surrey lanes, take in some hills etc, trying to keep on quiet roads. Why don't you come up the night before and then come out with us on Sunday?

Cheers

I always ride on a sunday but why on earth do you keep on setting out at such an early time??!!
surely you must have to sleep sometime, me- I am off out for a ride at about 10ish- then home for a nice bit-o-kip and a lazy afternoon.

Marek, that's great news. I presume CSS is Coulsdon South Station. I'll see you there at 8am.

Depends whether average 18mph for a long distance is within your capabilities. If it is within your capabilities then it won't be very hard.

I want to take it pretty easy, although we may take in a few hills on Sunday.

Cheers
