Bike insurance

Postby Paul on the Pearson » Wed Dec 17, 2008 6:29 pm

Do most people insure their bikes. I think mine has probably run out but probably/ not sure whether to reinsure it as its about 3 years old now and 200 quids a bit steep, I could put it on the house insurance but I haven't got that either  Does anyone know a good company that will insure my bike for the Majorca trip just in case those nice people at easy jet decide to throw it about a bit.

I insure mine through the CTC. It's not the cheapest but is very comprehensive, including accidental damage by you or an airline etc. It also gives you green card cover for 30 days so you're covered abroad, including if it's nicked from a cafe (or left anywhere) so long as it was locked up. The only thing that isn't covered is racing but any insurance that'll cover that will cost a lot.

I think it's money well spent for peace of mind. Replacement value is what it cost up to a 3 year old bike and then market value.
