Pilates 2009 - What Wants Some?

Postby Snoop Doug » Fri Dec 19, 2008 3:58 pm

Hi folks

The 2008 pilates season is over  . It was great fun so we restart on January 7th for 8 weeks. If you want a mat for the next block of lessons please post here or pm me. Existing pilatephiles who responded to my email need not post here - I have your name on my list.

Any questions?

Cheers - Snoop

Yes yes yes yes yes yes ok then.

Please let me know asap if my pilates bendy stretchy membership has rolled over to include this year.

If so, can Joice (the boss) be contacted to see if she wants me to pick her up on the night.

Many thanks, Marky Mark

I very much enjoyed my guest appearance at one of the sessions in December although owing to other commitments can't make this next block :(

Hopefully I'll be able to join a future course :)

Nice to see the serious subject of Pilates turned out to have its usual style of banter and farting.

We really should of got a photo of Tamar on her chair doing one legged Pilates, Hats off to you on that one.

Snoop mentioned that there are a few flexible (no pun intended) spaces still not taken up, so if anybody would like to come along to try it out just let yourself be known.

You may even discover you have child bearing hips, Elliot did.

It all looked rather funny from the kitchen whilst I was consuming your tea and cakes.

Superman impressions, Orville impressions(I wish I could fly right up to the sky but I can't), synchronized squat controlled flatulence and I'm a little tea pot poses.
But hey don't let this put you off, get yourself down there to fill in those free spaces :D :D

Pilates 2009 - Who Wants Some?

Postby Snoop Doug » Thu Jan 22, 2009 9:06 am

Sorry Elliot - didn't see yr note. Had a few missing last night :( . Still the upside was that Adam was able to take a very good look at some of the detail.

For me the last two classes have been excellent, though very different. Last week was pretty intense, I was sweating by the end  . This week still had some hard work in and I thought Adam talked us through some familiar moves very well. Unfamiliar with terminology but I particularly liked the one on yr back, breathe, slide ribs, push pelvis, hold, roll back down. That rib slide bit really added another dimension for me. I'm starting to be able to "see" and feel the spoken instruction better.

The opposite arm and leg slide lift thing was interesting too. Chest up, long neck :D . I'm glad we didn't try same side arm and leg though, still can't convince my small brain that's possible.

And the hamstring and thigh stretching plus calf stretch from hell @ the end was a really coordinated steady piece of work.

What did others think? Good? Bad? Indifferent?

There are a couple of spare places if anyone wants to come down and give it a go, one off session is £7.50.

I'm finding it useful and need to try and remember to do them at home as well. I don't think I'll sign up for the next set (big sigh of relief from everyone) as now I've got a bead on what I can/should be doing and how to do it I'll try and do it at home fitting in around things a bit better.

I found this week's harder than before as it was more concentrated so all the ab work made my flabby gut hurt after a bit  . Showed up what's not right and needs fixing well though.

Thanks for organising these by the way Snoop.

Good write up Snooper Scooper, I totally agree with your findings.

When we all started lasted year it was mainly an hour long stretching class and Adam has been VERY clever at introducing new moves and positions over a period of time. Just when you think you've put your body through every position possible, Adam chucks another one in the pot.

I love the way Adam works with us, even remembering that there are 7 Mark's in the room.

He is also very good at somehow keeping an eye on all off us at the same time, advising us to make small but important corrections so we benefit more from the class.

I just wish I could get my lazy ass to some of what we do at home, but I always manage to do nothing. I am motivated enough to do some turbo work but never ever get to do any flabby tummy work.

Maybe Adam should set us homework!!!

All-in-all I love the classes, and the bonus of tea and CAKE (Mmmmmmmmmmmm cake) cooked by Joyce the boss.
