Went out with James this morning at 8am from CSS station. Max (overworked) and Dave F (Alleged Flu) did not turn up. James and I went over to Ranmore for a bit of a warm up. James is training for Iron Man in Nice in June so wanted a longish ride.
We then made our way back into Dorking and up Box Hill. We then cycled over to Merstham in the hope to meet up with Ian Munnery and Nick Smith who were planning on leaving at 10am. Got round to Ians and it turned out he was recovering from Flu (again). Also Nick had been having fun trying to finish a bottle of Bacardi the night before and hence was no doubt feeling a little worse for wear this morning.
James and I had killed ourselves to get to Ians in time for 10am, but don't feel too guilty Ian.
We then headed over to Westerham. As we reached the bottom of Crockham hill James's legs decided they did not really fancy the climb, so we slowed down and took it easy up Crockham hill. Then we descended into Westerham and I saw James's face light up as we found the Cafe. After a well earned coffee and fruit cake we ascended out of Westerham and headed back down towards Whyteleaf. We then climbed up the hill towards Kenley aerodrome and then descended in Reedham.
A good 110km and back in time for lunch. Lovely weather, not too cold and the sun was shining most of the ride.
Cheers for the company James, may see you out for the early Saturday ride next week.
Regards
Marek....
