Hi Ed,

Yes we made it today, arrived for 9:45am and met Graham (thanks) there. We waited a bit and then shortly after 10 we headed off. In total the walk took just over 5 hours. it was quite cold. Overall it was quite a nice walk, a bit on roads but mainly on tracks, through fields and woods. We got to the end station with just a few minutes to spare before the hourly train back to Kenley, so it was very well timed! Also I think the distance was just right for the children (and some adults). Sorry you missed the walk. :(

Hi all, A total of 14 people started (and finished) the walk today. After a brief introduction telling everyone where we were going and where we were stopping for tea and lunch we were off up the long slow drag to Kenley Aerodrome. Once at the Aerodrome after a quick stretch the next stop was by the 'Fox' pub for 11's. The wind on the Aerodrome was bitterly cold but no complaints. Everyone was mixing and chatting like long lost friends, hows that after only knowing each other 40minutes!! After a 10 minute stop for tea the next main stop was on the North Downs for lunch, but a brief stop at Chaldon church on the way was welcime to take a drink and try and shelter from the wind but at least the sun was shining. A busy road had to be crossed but some motorists are patient when they see a group of walkers especially when there a 5 youngish in the group. We found a large tree trunk for lunch which in the sun was most enjoyable even if the main view was of the M25! After lunch, having informed the group that all the clinbing was done suddenly everyone smiled, that means it's all downhill from here-well nearly. After 10-15 on the road which wasn't too busy we made it to the viewpoint at the top of Caterham ahead of schedule so a 10 minute extra break was had and now it was downhill. Just before the station we had a proper long stretch and crossed the road to Caterham Station, bought ticket, boarded the train and 4 mins later we were off. Arrived at Kenley station and after all saying our goodbye's made our way home. Hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did and look forward to seeing you all soon.
Bye for now Graham

NB Thanks to all who turned up, it was nice meeting you all and full credit to the children walking such a long way with no complaints. Corinne (Grahams Wife).
