dude, I have a bike bag wot you can borrow. It is that tho, a bike bag (not a box). Proper one mind, not merely a collection of sainsbo carrier bags welded together. It's up in the loft so I would need to just make sure no pixies or elves have eaten it. I also have a double wheel bag knocking about somewhere. If u are interested in either/both let me know and I'll have a looksee.

There's every chance Snoop's will be harbouring a colony of bats or something by the sound of it. If so, I've got one of those BTwin ones from Decathlon. I don't think I'll be using it then, so let me know if you still need one.

Just the one condition - you have to do the full nine this time :) .

I've got one you can borrow if you like?

It's an Avenir one, the same as i've posted in the Marketplace section (I also have one for sale nudge nudge   ).

Nothing flash, just a large bag with wheel pockets in the side. May want to pad it out a bit for taking on a flight.

Sean, just to add to the confusion.

I have a hard case you can use for the 2 weeks.

It's an older version of this one. Alan and Elliot have both used it before. I've used it for, ooh, probably 26 flights. It's starting to look a little battered, but a bike has never been damaged in it. It will offer more protection than a bag.

Your call.

No need to sniff at padded bags Sean they do the job perfectly well, and are also lighter than boxes. Careful with your weight as you may have to pay excess for a box, best to check with the airline.

In general I think padded bags are fine, I just pipe lag the frame & chainring and remove the pedals, rear mech (tape between chain stays in a sandwich bag) and bars (tape to top tube), and you are unlucky should the handlers do anything to it. If they aren't too huge (unlike the Planet X hernia special) and have some wheels and useful padded handles then they load them safely. If they can pick it up easily enough then they will. For Mallorca I used my B-Twin one and had all my cycling clothes and the various tools in it and it was only 22kgs when easyjet weighed it and easy enough for me to lift and move about on to the conveyor and I'm a weakling.

Me too :D By the way Grahame, I have a key that I suspect came from that suitcase - are you missing one by any chance?

Ah, I wondered where the missing key was. But as I've never locked the case, it didn't seem important.

Can I collect the key from you one evening?

Mike is the bag in question a hardened one? Is it still available?

Sean, it's a Decathlon one, the same as Andrew's. Soft but padded sides and hard(ish) base which wraps round the rear mech. It weighed in at a touch over 15kg going out to Mallorca, but you could probably get it under that if you needed to - I pack tools and stuff in it as well. The bike seems to have come to no harm. Still available if you need it.

PS: if that is the right one, I could arrange to give it directly to Sean - Palace maybe, or the TT on the 26th where I am marshalling? Or clubrun next week.
