Well it certainly was this morning at 7:30am heading out to work -2 degrees
Decided to keep to the main roads and headed off up the A24. this is a gentler route than my usual one up Rusper, and soon the average was up to 17mph until the long drag up through Kingsfold and up to Clarks Green roundabout (turn of the 10). The exposed section of dual carriageway the temperature noticeably dropped and my feet and hands started to feel cold (thanks to Santa, my new Gore jacket kept the top half warm ) got uto 25mph and the wind chill was too severe, so slowed down
Up Box Hill (-4degrees) was a bit of a challenge with 250kg in my pannier bag , but made it in a whisker under 10 minutes including a cup of tea stop at the top - and no I didn't use 53*12 or any such silly combination It was even colder up here and the ride along the ridge was really painful. Feet and hands really suffering now.
Crossed the M25 and got an ICY BLAST of wind from the east, and a slippery section of road negotiated safely.
Now thankfully warming up in the toasty office.
Be careful out there.
