Frosty MTB ride Sunday 4th?

Postby Sylv » Sat Jan 03, 2009 9:24 am

I'm thinking of heading for a +/-25 miles mtb ride towards the wall of death tomorrow, at a reasonnable pace, so if anyone's interested please post here or pm me or text me, so that we can arrange a meeting point and time.

Trails should be nice and solid - I'm taking the full-sus :D

Happy nouille ear to all @ ACC

[quote="Sylv"]at a reasonnable pace

Change that to "medium pace" I don't think I've got another fast ride in my legs this weekend :lol:

Serge and I will be meeting at 10am at East Croydon station - don't be late please, it's cold out there - probably back just after 12.30-12.45.

Top ride with Kasper and Serge, just over 40km as advertised, 2h25 of riding and I think we were out for about 3h30+ - back for 1.30pm. I'll send you the link to the GPS map.

It didn't feel quite as cold as yesterday on the road, but almost! Beautiful weather though.

Felt much better than I thought I would after yesterday's clubrun (my legs were hurting in all sorts of new places), I think those protein shakes really are working.

I think if ever there was a day the chocolate eclair climb was doable (we went down it - the one just before the dead bird), it was today - the gravel was frozen solid. Which made the following climb ("paragliders' paradise") a piece of cake - almost. Not a speck of mud on my bike in the end (just a bit of horse poo).

Sounds like a good ride you had Sylv - and chocolate eclair would have been within my reach today.

I know what you mean about no mud to clean off the bike. No one needed to use the bike wash after the 'cross race today. My bike is still glistening clean. Not sure I would want those conditions every day though. Riding round a frozen course was not very easy. I had too many tumbles and didn't get in much riding :x -
It's a good job I was wearing an extra thermal and 2 pairs of gloves :wink:
