Good plan - in theory at least.....let's see what happens in practice.

There is a long cycle path just out of Boulogne to Le Touquet (took and Paul along it) that is truly good quality tarmac all the way. If that were to continue, it would be fabulous.

They need to be careful to avoid a repeat of the "channel tunnel rail link" here ?

By all accounts the Dieppe to Forges-les-Eaux section is a very good tarmac cycle only road and laid on a disused railway line, my friend from Lewis Wanderers often rides this route.

I like the idea.

I rode a few hunded miles of the [url=http://www.northsea-cycle.com/]North Sea Cycle[/url] route late last year when I cycled to Germany from Hook of Holland and really enjoyed it.

It was made from all sorts of sections of road and path joined up so it wasn't exactly ideal for fast riding - except for the one 32km [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afsluitdijk]Afsluitdijk[/url] section which would be a time-trialler's heaven - but it was nonetheless great fun to ride.

I saw quite a few clubs out riding some of the sections - particularly around the southern parts - and they seemed to be happy to put up with the bumpy & sandy cobbled paths along the coast presumably because they were completely away from all traffic (and also in the middle of great scenery).

Anyway, will be interested to see how the cycle path turns out.
