A total of 38 started so we weren't the only nutters out that day. Not a bad result for me but know I'm capable of better. Will try race there again next weekend (fingers crossed it will be warmer) and will have more of an idea of who to look out for in the closing stages as Ive checked the previous results and the same names do keep cropping up.

So having been cruising around just training at level one for 3 months my boys did good. Beating Ant in the 4ths and only losing out to the two winter series stalwarts in the E/1/2/3s because I cocked it up by not leading my man out. Good to see we're so competitive already, when most of the field's at the winter series race there every week.

Comforting to see that for my efforts I will receive 21 BC points as I'm told that the race has been upgraded to National B! Haha, I think its hilarious that this time last year I was slaving away to score 40 points for promotion to 2nd cat, and now I get 21 points just for rolling over the line in 15th place! haha!

Roll on the next one and more free points... if I can maintain a points/race average of 21 it won't be long til the Elite licence arrives...

I'm really surpirised at 20 4th cat entries and 44 E123s when the temperature was around -5°C.

People must really want those points.

To be honest Keith, I probably wouldn't have raced had it not been part of my programme...

Adam, I've just checked the BC website, and my Boxing Day 9th place was "actually" 5th when you remove all of the Elites & 1st cats.

5 points is much nicer than 1!!! :D

I know, it's great isn't it! Since they are apparently now National B (Band 3, so 30, 25, 21, 19 points etc...) it makes 59 minutes on ice almost worthwhile!

38 took to the start Keith, I only put the top 20 finishers up.

I think I'll go over again this weekend and try and improve by getting a top 3, don't think its out of my reach. I sat up at the end and just cruised over the line as the video shows...what a way to finish a race

That would have been silly given the amount of 3rd cats that beat me

I reckon people saw the state of the weather and said "There will only be a few people daft enough to race in these temperatures - I'm off to Hillingdon to pick up some easy points..."
