How are the roads looking around Surrey at the moment?

If someone could post a couple of updates today and tonight that would be great.

I've decided to wimp out of going out onto the open roads this weekend. Instead I'll go on the turbo for a while and then do some cross-training with a big tray and a slope in Crystal Palace Park!

I wimped out in the end.

However turbo trainer in front of France vs Wales was a decent alternative. :D

I guess about 30 riders decided to brave the conditions today and were rewarded by having the sun shining on them for most of the way, no snow or ice was present infact it did seem quite mild- a few hacking coughs were also present so get well soon to all.

Had a small Baptism with Fire today.

As there were so few about I go out with Marek and Dave finnley? and a few others. I have been resisting temptation to ride with these and I now know why. They ride hills/inclines as quick as they ride a flat and for those who know me thats not to good for me. I really must give my appreciation of these two as they pushed quite hard on the through and off only 7 of us doing this.. Dave lead out with a 0-25mph in what seemed like 3 seconds.............with marek bringing up the rear but had to stop as we had lost some of the others I WONDER WHY (No critism here) just WOW.....with the run into the cafe we were down to 4 with me HOLDING on and SUCKING wheel (Thanks guys) other rider in T-Mobile top? I felt I had to save something for the sprint and did then WHOOOSH there goes MIGHTY MAREK after pulling me for the last 2-3 mile. When I spoke to Ian Munnery in the cafe he then told me that Dave is only 1/2 fit due to illness :( that took away some of my glory. Took home the gentler ride as I wanted to get home and watch the RUGGER.(My excuse :D ) Had a good run YET again with THE AGREEABLES.

Thanks to all those who braved the weather and those who didn't well you missed a great ride.

Had a gentle spin over to Box Hill with four of us taking a longish route, three others going a shorter route, who we met up with just before box hill. Lost Rob on Box Hill, gather you were no doubt saving yourself for the rest of your ride.

Was pretty cold on top of box hill, still a lot of snow about also some slush on the roads which meant taking the hairpins a bit slower than normal.

Enjoyed the ride, with the exception of having to chase down the through and off group on the dual carriageway to get them to stop and wait for one of the guys whos chain had come off. I hate to think what speed I was doing to catch you guys if you were going 25mph, I didn't have my speedo with me but my HRM was giving a bit of a crazy reading on that section.

Nick, it was good to see that you had a bit left in the tank for the sprint, but I was no way going to let you win it after leading you guys out for the 2 miles or so into Charlwood, mind you Mr T-Mobile was going very well and took a few turns on the front.

See you next week.

Cheers

Good ride on Saturday even though I could not do my fair share on the front.

Marek- we slowed down on the dual carriageway when we realised you were not there...

Good ride by Nick - you should come out with us more often to acquire that extra edge.

Focus now on recovery. Intending doing a Brighton run on Friday this week if weather is okay.

If I don't see you then, meet up on Saturday.
Cheers

I finally escaped the evil, seductive clutches of home life to ride solo down the quick way to Charlwood, 86 minutes at a nice, aerobic pace.

While there it was good to see the Partridge Lane gang (Tim, Ajay, et al), tho' I missed seeing most of the dual carriageway guys. Nice to see the ACC mugs on the tables - wondering when I might get my mug and sticker - and to talk the talk for the first time in a long while.

And it was nice to lead the group back as far as I did, although I just didn't have the next gear in the legs when the ups started and people started to push the effort.

Thanks for the ride.
