OK... well I am at home with a cold (which I blame on my unhealthy workmates rather than the cold Sat ride) so...

Just two 17mph groups from CSS. One for those doing through and off, the other for Partridge Lane.

I started with the through and off group but as we went through Reigate something went funny with my steering... realised I'd never tightened my stem steerer bolts up after Mallorca! No idea how I'd made it that far. Got scooped up by the slower group as they came through.

Just nearing the Partridge Lane turnoff on the wooded rising section, saw the through and off group a few hundred metres ahead so attacked and caught them (thereby expending all the day's sprinting ability).

Through and off was a little bit er, unrefined, but plenty of time to practice. Maybe the group was a bit large as it took a couple of mins for a complete rotation. I managed to get to the front and ease up just as the Charlwood sign appeared, 30 secs later I was out the back of the pack! Need to work on that.

From the cafe a few of us took a direct route to Box Hill, really started getting cold, with a lot of snow by the sides of the road, and as we went through Box Hill village snowflakes started falling. Luckily was a brief shower and returned at a steady pace.

Oh, I noticed someone ahead of me had what appeared to be battery packs on her ankles (might have been Jacqui?) ; a cunning heating system I suspect. Anyone know any more?

I am also wondering if you are on drugs? :D
If not maybe you should be on some sort of medication!

Any way the Saturday ride went ahead as planned. It was my first time on my road bike sence November due to illness. Thanks to the friendly atmosphere that this club lends itself to I have now found a renewed interest in the sport and illness/injury permiting hope to get back to my orginal level of fitness. Can't wait.!!!

PS Sylvn if you are reading this I owe you an inner tube from oct last year! but have not managed to see you sence then!

Elliot, That was Robbie I think with her heated shoe liners from Tchibo. Apparently they work very well.

That was my first clubrun for about 6 weeks and the two main things I noticed were:
1. Table cloths at the cafe!
2. Very good looking young lady serving at the cafe!

Oh, the cycling was good too.

David.

:D Thanks for the feed back. :D

I believe I've had too many knocks on my head, therefore not all here all the time, maybe not even most of the time, thinking about it none of the time.

But thats me :!:

Dave F, Max, Carl, Simon and myself met up at 8am on Sat in the cold. As there was a lot of ice about we took a different route to our normal route and went through reigate and headed down to Dorking. We then went back over the hill to the Holmwood TT course where Dave did his usual impression of a steam train.

When we eventually caught him up we headed over towards Horsham way via dual carriageway and then ended up back on the club run Dual Carriageway. I think you are probably getting a picture of a very main road type run and it was.

We decided to up the pace on the Dual Carriageway and blasted all the way to Charlwood. See you soon Carl. On the run in toward the sprint sign, Dave and I sneakily sat behind Max for about three miles and then we sprinted past him. It was a photo finish between Dave and myself, but I pipped him

Max was the most knackered and he hadn't even sprinted, the nice headwind into Charlwood certainly took its toll on him, hehehe.

We had a nice cuppa in the cafe and then blasted back to CSS. We ended up doing around 80km and I was home by 11.15. Wife was in shock and the window cleaner left his trousers in my bedroom.

See you around, will be racing most weekends now so unlikely to be out on the club runs. Will keep you updated on how we get on in the results and racing section.

On the racing subject, anyone fancy Chertsey in two weeks time. Closed circuit good for beginners. May be able to sort out a lift for a couple of you.

Cheers

Marek....

I believe there is a 3rd and a 4th cat race. 4th cat race will be around 40-50km, check out the surreyleague.co.uk for all information. If you fancy coming along then let me know. Chertsey is a closed circuit race track, pretty flat with one small lump that you can power over.

Cheers

Would love to do it Marek but will be in Spain 'training'. Hope to come home with some sort of fitness to start racing mid-April.
