CR 17th Jan

Legs felt terrible on anything approaching a gradient today (bodes well for tomorrow  ) so spent the run out shirking around towards the back of the group and sitting on wheels.

Thanks to Paul for the Freewheel comp, it was a nice bit of fun, and thanks to Robyn and Bridget for chalking up our distances. With only a bit of a drop at the start it's surprising how far you end up reaching. Well done Grahame.

Nice easy run back and my legs felt better but still a bit heavy, dodgy guts on Thursday so perhaps just not fully recovered. A temporary ta ta to folk before this evening.

Great Training Group ride, as always. Never fails to put a smile on my face (often not until it's over  !)

Decided to work up an appetite and a thirst for this evening's ACC Dinner, by going a little early for the Charlwood sign. Like from the last set of lights on the dual carriageway.

Brutal is how I would describe my first training group. Must learn the route properly so I know where all the drags and signs are. When I am out on my own I always seem to come from the other direction, much easier :D I even found the through and off on my beloved dual carriageway hard!!

Have to agree with Keith though, most thoroughly grin inducing :D

I also braved the training group, need to start getting into shape following my few weeks off due to illness. Well, all I can say is I was in pain from start to finish, it was really hard work with Dom, Paul H, Keith and at times Stu putting in some good pulls.

I was doing my best just to sit in, got dropped by Paul and Keith in Rusper, Stu and I tried our best to chase them down and then Stu left me for dead as well. Onto the dual carriageway and I was cooked. Came through about twice, one time Paul did a nice little trick by speeding up as I was trying to come through (I used to do that to him), and this completely blew my legs apart.

Keith disappeared up the road, we all got caught at the Ifield roundabout and then Paul chased after Keith with Stu not too far behind. By this time I had nothing left and me and Dom kept up a reasonable pace to come to the cafe.

After a coffee got up to go and found I had a puncture. Fixed it up and then rode back to my turning off to EG with Dave K and Adam C riding a nice gentle tempo, and then halfway home got another slow puncture. Just rode it home but it was exceedingly hard work. The few weeks off the bike have certainly taken their toll, but shouldn't take too long to get back up to speed (he says in wishful hope).

Cheers

You sure it was a slow puncture and not just the extra weight you are carrying?

Thanks for that Sylv, it had crossed my mind that the punctures were weight induced. Lets hope the first few races are not too windy, would hate to see a little fella like you get blown off into the hedges.

Cheers
