WOW

So you mean it is possible that occasionally the Police do their job?

Might I ask which constabulary this was?

It was the Surrey constabulary.

When I was interviewed by a policeman while lying on a stretcher waiting to be admitted to East Surrey Hospital, he reckoned it was just one of those things, the driver was sorry, didn't see me coming and probably wouldn't be prosecuted.

Later I was sent a form which asked, amongst other things, whether I thought the driver should be prosecuted. Addiscombe members urged me to say yes, so I did.

Unfortunately there isn't a bigger font than the one I used previously. But that's quite suprising to me. They had almost zero inclination to act on my 'incident' in Surrey.

Even the officer I reached on 999 couldn't even be bothered to report the call that morning.

Hmm.

Same happened to me. I reported that bus for hitting me, gave the police everything they could wish for (drivers number, bus number, and route) yet did they bother chasing it up, did they hell as like even though I was promised a call back within 24 hours to give me an update. Never heard another thing. Useless.

Im glad the driver who hit Dave got fined and points, the 'didn't see you' excuse is wearing thin with me now when ever I confront someone who's given me a close shave.

They were probably too busy out catching proper villains, muggers, robbers, burglars etc
Surely "not seeing" something that is there is driving without due care and attention?

I'm glad to hear that this progressed the way it did, useful for us to know thanks David.

Surprised to see the ole bill takin such flak here tho? Thankless task no? And you show me a large organisation that doesn't have, how shall we put it, less than shining examples of customer service.

Hmmm. For customer SERVICE I'll go to John Lewis. I want my Police FORCE to pursue, catch, and bring to justice villains, dangerous drivers, terrorists, muggers, burglars, knife-carrying hoodrats, and other miscreants I may have left out.

Dombo - you pay the police to provide a service. You are a customer of theirs like it or not feller. I agree that catching villains, knife carrying hood rats (love that term not heard it before) etc is integral to and yet not all that they do. Maybe it's the job of the CPS to bring 'em to justice? Not sure. I think the police, like other social services are on a hiding to nothing. We all hear about, and grrr about the stuff that goes wrong. There's precious little said about what goes right which is one of the reasons I was very pleased that David put this feedback here.

I feel a glass of wine coming on - training y'see

They probably do the best that they can do with the resources that they've got - although there's no excuse for ignoring calls etc.

They're too busy taking calls from dimwits to catch any villains...
