[quote]feel as though I have something lurking in the chest so am not going to do anything till fully recovered
You and Stu really need to stop feeling sorry for yourselves and just get on with it. What a pair of whingers. Put it in the box. Im worried that George is going to join you whimps after saturday as well now.
For myself, xmas was Ok. I didnt do a lot of training but just tried to keep things ticking over. As you get older, I think it is essential not to have too long a break. I beleive in the "use it or lose it" theory i.e. if I stop training and lose say 20% of my aerobic fitness, I can only get approx 19.5% back and the 0.5% has gone for good. Therefore two layoffs in a year could cost me 10w at AT.
I therefore never stop training for any more than a week and before have continued to train even with some terrible injuries (im not saying this is a wise thing to do though and wouldnt train with a fever). I have noticed when I start to get a cold, stopping training never seems to stop it developing so always crack on untill I feel too rubbish to continue. Its always hard to start training up again after a cold/flu so as soon as the symptons die down, I will do 10min turbos sessions untill Im feeling a bit better - I think a bit of exercise can help to clear out the airways.
Training is not a problem for me as I enjoy it and have an understanding wife.
