[quote="Roy Green"][quote="-Adam-"]Another question, with a skinsuit, aero helmet, lycra shoe covers, riding my Cervélo with Zipp 404s, how much slower would I be than if I were riding a full TT bike with disc?

With all these super aids helping you guys today, I'm beginning to think that my rides by comparison in the 1960s would give you a fair run ... what say, Boss, John L and Keith W?

All I can add is that with all the up to date gear which I used last season I went faster at 71 years of age than I ever did when I was 25.

You were probably much better trained last year than when you were 25 though too, John!

It all adds up. But being coached like you were, and having a proper warm-up routine etc is as important as the skinsuit, helmet, disc etc. etc...

[quote="Adam"]I've just heard stories that discs can make a minute difference on a 10?

No chance. A 10 is a very short difference and that would be a huge percentage increase.

As Jon said with your bike and wheels, a skinsuit, a pointy hat, and some good tri-bars you'll have a very good setup which won't be far off a full TT set up. The main difference will be having to get out of a tuck to change gear as you won't have bar end shifters.

When I say good tri-bars that's not always expensive but ones that suit and fit you well. It'll be different for everyone as to what suits you (mount above or below the bars? bent extensions or straight? length of extensions? width of pads?) so try a few out if you can before buying some. Ones with a plenty of adjustment would be good to give you plenty of tweakability before you find what works best for you.
