Birds on Bikes!

Not my title - picked this up from our hotmail account:

[quote]I am writing on behalf of London Cycling Campaign to invite members of your group to a unique and inspiring night ride on the evening of 7 March 2009.

London Cycling Campaign will be holding a ‘Birds on Bikes’ Night Ride Event to celebrate International Women’s Day. The ride is female focussed but not exclusive to females. We will be welcoming women, their friends, colleagues and families to take to two wheels and light up the streets to celebrate Women and their achievements for this annual worldwide event!! It is the perfect opportunity for you to celebrate women who have made a positive difference in your community, your businesses, mums, grans, friends, colleagues etc.

The whole effect will be very visual and will be covered by the media, so get your club or charity seen and come and take part!

Approximately 5 miles long, the ride will incorporate sites of notable achievements made by women. The start and finish will be at Trafalgar Square, from 7pm – 9pm, followed by a celebratory social in a local venue tbc. The ride is free and open to all, with Marshalls along the course to direct riders. There will be a great festival atmosphere at Trafalgar Square with stalls and a Dr Bike stand which will be on hand to guide riders through basic bike maintenance.

I hope that this event will be of interest to members of your group. If you would like to take part please let us know and we will send a ‘Birds on Bikes’ pack to you nearer the date with confirmed details.

We hope to see you there!

So have we asked for the pack? (I wonder what's in it?)

I couldn't see the event listed either on the LCC or the IWD sites :?:

I doubt they will be going as far south as the Epsom Downs but that is where Emily Pankhurst the famous Womens Rights campaigner flung herself under the King's horse, am i not right?
Would be interesting to know the route they intend to take, specifically which sites of interest they plan on visiting.
Florence Nightingale must get a mention, but wonder if they'll visit the new track at Stratfield and if Rebecca Romero or Victoria Pendleton will get a mention?
