Very Agreeable Indeed

Postby gdub66 » Sun Jan 25, 2009 1:11 pm

Just wanted to say as a Newbie, that my only wish is that I had got my act together this time last year and come along to join you guys and girls then. Within two Saturday rides you have managed to turn me from reluctant hour max long rider who endured setting up the turbo trainer occasionally, to someone who can't wait 'til the evenings get lighter to get out onto to the roads Mon-Fri. My triathlon times should see some good improvement off the back of this too.

A genuine and warm welcome was followed by friendly chats , advice and great rides. Captain John (JC ?) must be just about the most positive person I think I've ever had the pleasure to meet - thanks John.

So all in all I just wanted to say that I consider myself very lucky to have fallen in with the black n yellows and am looking forward to a long and fun time as an ACC member. Thanks to all for the effort that goes in to creating such an organisation.

Hey Glenn,

Welcome to the family/ clan/ tribe/ what ever takes your fancy.

John is a legend and it’s where most of us started, including me, about time the man got a knight hood.

see you next week

A legend in his own lycra, I don't think John's ever been spotted without a huge smile. Top man.

Welcome aboard.

Thanks all,

That picture of JC captures the man from my very limited experience - although I didn't recognize him out of his lycra (although I appreciate that on other web forums that comment could have started all sorts of rumours, I think we know what I mean !!)

Glen, are you the mad person I rode with on Saturday wearing the shorts?

If so, then it was indeed smiley John in the bunch/clan/club/gaggle/flock/heard/group

Welcome aboard and have fun....
Cheers, Marky Mark

Despite all the recent "navel gazing" it's nice to be reminded once in a while that ACC has a lot going for it. Cheers Glenn.

Marky - I think that was Alex who is also a newbie although - I was in that group but way too much of a wimp to be in shorts only :D

I can agree with Glenn with all of that, I started when he did. It seems like there's a good bunch of people here.

I might be that person *shifty eyes*, but there is more thinking to my madness than madness in my thinking. If I wear lycra, ill have to shave my legs (otherwise the hairs go through the lycra.. mmm) which seems kind of weird to a newbie. Plus I've been given an ultimatum by the missus so I'm a bit restricted, clothing wise.

Glenn - I rode with you this week and last ( but managed to shout 'Alex' at top volume when you went wrong on the way home...sorry about that )...

Anyway, very pleased to see you are a triathlete...otherwsie I would be depressed at your newbie status flying past me up the hills!

I hesitate to recommend it exactly Mark but the doing the 'Catherine Wheel' as I've since called it was a fairly surreal experience.

Thanks for that Andrew - just couldn't help but mention the fact that I went the wrong way and found myself in Redhill town dodging the cars and getting sworn at by bus drivers (although I had cut them up a bit !!) - although as luck would have it I came out ahead of the group and chased down that break away cyclist from earlier in our group, only for him to put the pedal down at the top of the M23/A23 bit and leave me for dead and breathing out of my  Great fun though and maxed out the HR.

Thanks for the warning I had completely forgotten that turning but hopefully won't next time. Have a great week. :D
