Pubs on the CR

Postby Rob Q » Sun Jan 25, 2009 2:09 pm

Hi all,
There are a number of pubs we pass on the club CR and routes around the CR. Can anyone recommend any of them for an ageeable meal and pint. This is purely for those days when not on the bike I may add :D

Amy knows them all, she never shuts up about them

She can give you grid references and names of all the staff in each pub.

TimNick can back me up on this one!!!!!

I'm only upholding the great British tradition of navigating by local landmarks ie pubs - it's better than some people I knew who tended to use petrol stations  At least pub names tend to be unique or at least a wider range than petrol companies.

Anyway what's the name of the pub at Parkgate (where we turn right towards Partridge Lane and Rusper)? Thought it was, the Surrey Oaks. It did have a CAMRA award or two or three. And following another great British tradition, there is (or at least was) a curry house opposite

Can't say I've been there for a very long time - it's too close in for even the CTC but I know of ex-colleagues and fellow cyclists who have frequented it in a non-cycling manner.

Anyway, Mark, I'm sure you won't mind being introduced to a few on my longer rides

Not even close to tough, Amy has not attacked me or let my tyres down yet so I know she is cool and loves a bit of banter.

So looking forward to the mid summer pub crawl, please add your names below for the alcoholic run...

BTW, The pub at the top of Rusper Hill is called the Star Inn. However, if you want to go to Rusper, then the Plough and Attic Rooms (opposite the Church) really does super food (have to book on a Sunday as it s so popular (and reasonably priced too)- just remember to duck as the ceiling beams are low. The pheasant ws sublime!!!!!! The Surrey Oaks is just after the left turn at Parkgate.
Will be trying the others in turn as they are on my commute - Seven Stars, Leigh,

Still don't know what Marky Mark and Ian are going on about but some other pubs - there's two in Charlwood itself. The one the CTC patronises is the ?Half Moon down the no through road to the church. There's one in Newdigate at the top of the hill - again can't remember name ?Six Bells?

There's probably a guide to Surrey pubs with ratings and comments on the internet.
