Cycling in the Snow is grrrreat

Postby Marek » Mon Feb 02, 2009 8:15 am

Just got back from the station, cycled up the paths on the thick snow, was really grippy and excellent fun, lost the backend on one occasion when I went onto the road and it had melted a bit but managed to stay upright. Got the station and it was closed, excellent, so cycled home the long way and took in some more snowy fun. Now just need to persuade the wife to let me go out and explore the local trails in the snow, maybe I'll take the kids out and have a snowball fight first though.

Have fun.

Cheers

Marek....

Well it's like this...

So I went out for a bit on this...

and had a bit of fun  .

It is really deep, hub deep just about everywhere except the roads, so was hard work trying to plough through it as my feet were scooping up big piles of it on the toes of the shoes. The roads are compacted hard with cars slithering about on any incline so they are pretty slippery and I spent loads of time wiggling about keeping balance as it kept sliding all over the place. Discovered brakes don't work in the snow but slithering in to snow banks on a regular basis soon stopped me  .
