Hello everybody,
The John Ibbotson fund is putting on the Fish and Hits night again this February 28th in Walton-on-the-hill and I'm keen to fill a table (eight people) with ACC members. Last year the event was a great success and there's a bigger hall this year that can hold 200 people and still give them room to get on down when the band hits their stride.
Tickets cost just £15, and for this you get a live band (playing plenty of well known tunes and i'm assured they're excellent), a top quality Fish and chip meal, and ? believe it or not ? as much free booze as you can drink! And let's face it we can drink a lot of booze for £15 Because it?s a fund-raising event there?ll be other things going on during the evening, making it a great night out.
This year the John Ibbotson fund has sent two aspiring young riders, Tom Copeland and Daniel Patton, to race abroad. Tom was funded last year and improved greatly through the season, gaining himself a place with a French pro feeder team for 2009. Daniel is new to the fund and will ride for Magnus Backstedt?s new Swedish/British development team in 2009.
The fund also tries to raise awareness of cardiac risk in the young, and donations and money raised from events in 2008 allowed them to give £1,000 to the charity CRY this year.
So it would be great if some of the members who knew and used to ride with John could attend as I'm sure we can have a good night out. I believe Dave K is sorting out a Paragon table of at least six so if that's true we need to get at least eight in case things get 'tasty')
Contact me if you?re interested and I'll get us a table... or two... or three...
Cheers
H
