[quote]Hmmm...can you really attribute this to LBP training alone given the fact you've done both road races mountain bike races? Both these events will increase your threshold power output and as a consequence your power output will be high at low heart rates.
Although I don't have a powertap, I have noticed a definite increase in speed when doing lbp work. This has gone from 28-29 kph after about 4 weeks on the rollers (it took me about that long to get used to using them). I am now doing 35-36 kph when doing lbp stuff. Unfortunately I have had a couple of 'inconclusive' powertap tests with Huw - one test was rubbish cos I was knakered, one was rubbish cos I had just come back from skiing and had forgotten how to cycle
.
AND...the only quick stuff I have done is 2 weeks of 18's in the club run, and 2 races at Hillingdon in the 4ths.
So I don't think my increase speed at lower heart rates is anything to do with racing etc. I simply haven't done any speed work at all.
In fact in all, done nothing over 150bpm in fact, really.
