Triathlon show at Esher

There's a triathlon show over at Esher tomorrow

http://www.tcrshow.com/

I went today and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're not up to anything

Lots of good talks (nutrition, training, preparing for big events, etc.) and quite a few pimp bikes to look at

There's a physio too who are providing various services for free (including a 20-min massage which more than covers the £11 entrance fee)

I had a massage on my legs...

The masseuse found a whole series of excrutiatingly painful pressure points along my ITB

Good show

Met up with Paul there

Had a massage - got told off for not having stretched after my morning run (she could tell within 5 seconds) and also for getting a massage on the same day as exercising (having done the "brutal" type massage on one leg before realising), you should wait the following day. Oh and also for taking cold + hot shower after exercising, as opposed to JUST cold ... with that weather!!!

I had one leg much stiffer than the other so was advised to see the physio there, but after many tests they couldn't find anything wrong. I know I've got some kind of unbalance from a bike-fit session, but still not sure what to do about it ... Paul enjoyed his physio session though ;-)

Went to some seminars - got laughed at by the speakers for asking about my breathing-restriction exercises when running - pointless they said. The swimming one was impressive with videos of a swimmer sooooo smooth and effortless

Met Rachael (yes the Rachael of Rachael's downhill) in a wetsuit

Finally ... bought a TT bike :). Second hand from a pro triathlete girl. Can't wait to hear the whirr of the disc and try out those Rotor rings. Stu you gonna have some competition I hope!!! Anyone got a pointy helmet for sale?

Sounds like you made the most of it :)

What's the stuff about not getting a massage on the same day as exercising?!

Last time I went for a massage - coincidentally at Physio4Life as it's my LMP (local massage parlour) - I did a pre-massage warm-up of a few flying laps around Richmond Park

I told the masseuse and asked if it was helpful to have done so and she said it was because it would have warmed up the muscles meaning that she could go harder... which she did and of course I ended up regretting it

Don't know Adriana - I've only had massages with Gemma

Does seem a bit odd as I thought pro cyclists routinely got whisked off for a massage after races etc.

I did say, I have a light massage from bottom to top of legs after a race or hard workout, to evacuate the lactic waste products, and also try and elevate the legs to help
I think, she then shrugged

Anyone?
