i was in london the other day, as a pedestrian, and i was shocked at how blind and foolish a driver could be.

a cyclist was waiting at some traffic lights, and car simply drove into the back of him. though unfortunately i was not surprised as the driver was yapping away on his mobile!

Yes, you guessed it... again.

I would say I can't believe it, but after the 3rd time you start to get used to it.

About an hour ago, I had completed my training and was on my way home. Within 4 miles of my house, here http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2553014, I got hit by a car.

If you see the map, Headley Rd becomes Wilmerhatch Ln in a sweeping right hand bend. With the other lane the minor road. Enter, A big Jaguar XKR. As he approached the junction to turn into the minor road, he stopped. Then as I was unavoidably close, proceeded to turn into the road. As a result, I breaked as hard as I could, but up onto the bonnet, then the roof, then I fell back on the nearside of the car to the ground, where the rear nearside wheel then rolled over my right foot.

I got up, in somewhat pain, threw my bike against the adjacent sign, then waited for the driver to get out. Out he gets, oh, are you alright? Does it f*****g look like I'm alright? NO. At first glance, I didn't look too hurt, and my bike, apart from another buckled front wheel ''looked'' alright.

Of course the driver was in a rush to get off, by this point another car has stopped to help. She, ironically, knew the driver who hit me. Said he's a consultant surgeon at Ashtead Hospital. Oh the irony. So I insisted on his details, at which point he becomes a little bit more defensive. And starts talking about how cyclists dont have insurance. So I said actually, I do, I'm a British Cycling member. THEN! He has the cheek to start mentioning the damage to his car, and trys to intimate that it was my fault!!

So I got the details, funnily enough, he had a nice letterheaded piece of paper to give to me, with all his numbers, addresses etc on.

Anyhow, I'm just home now. I don't think I'm too badly hurt, but my right side is very very sore. Suprisingly however, my foot doesn't seem that bad. My bike however, the Trek this is, I think you have seen it for the last time. There is cracking underneath the fork crown, and also at the head tube/downtube junction. Looking like a write off.

Unlike the last time where I was hit, where I was actually not that annoyed with the driver. This time, I am incensed. What an idiot. I wonder what the Ashtead Hospital will make of one of their private consultant surgeons knocking a cyclist off his bike, or the local press for that matter...

Glad you're ok. Get yourself properly checked out. Perhaps not privately at Ashtead though...

Nice car to mess up though Adam - was it the new 5.0 Litre V8 or a 510PS supercharged model?

Tough luck, glad you're ok. Guess the more miles you're gonna be doing the more chances of it happening

Ah, I see.
Cruel, but dibs on your old frame if you get a new bike.
Mate, didn't I mention the things cracked!? Put it this way, I would never ride that frame again. The first sprint or descent is likely to result in the front end disintegrating beneath you!
