Why the AD flag Sean? I don't really follow these things, but as far as I can see those numbers - posted by Him on His website - show that He is as clean as a whistle.

Unless you're suggesting...

Well there is that suspiciously large gap between 18 December and 4th February* which, strangely, coincides with his first competitive return......

Actually it's 4th February! I guess it's Christmas, New Year, club dinner, stuck in snow ... No, wait a minute, those are my excuses!

When he was subject to testing by the UCI at the Tour Down Under. He is currently negotiating with them to have the results released.

What does AD stand for anyway?
(I've been meaning to ask that for a while).

It doesn't really matter whether he's clean or not when the Marco's of this world will continue to find ''dirt'' on him.

My point was a little more general Marco. I don't know what Armstrong is all about, but I do know his being in the peloton this year is good for cycling as a whole, period.

What I don't like is, and it's not just you, I'm talking more about Lequipe journalists and the like... The fact that despite cyclings best efforts to clean up, the sport is still being killed by people persisting in digging for stories that in all honesty, probably aren't even there anymore. I genuinely believe cycling is cleaner now than it was even this time last year. I have had quite a candid view of professional cycling over the winter, having been around people who know exactly how it works, and I mean what I say. People digging for dirt does nothing to help the sport move on, just leave it to the testers. As we saw at the Tour last year, they do actually work. But constant speculation, and thats all it is, means that a whole generation, including myself, are being punished by the actions of the guys 5-20 years older than us. Is that fair?

If I make it as a pro, I'll probably earn half as much as I would have done 10 years ago. But if people continue to write such bull sh*t, I have no chance of making it at all. So you see, I really do care about this. Let me tell you, I wouldn't ever dope, and I'm fairly confident none of the other guys I know who are looking like making pro would either. So give us a break! The people that write these stories should go work for their governing body and make sure that the guys that do get caught, are properly sanctioned, because at the moment, in Spain, Germany and Kazakistan, thats just not happening. It seems only the Italians are really that tough on doping. Who are going to welcome Armstrong with open arms by the way.

Yeah, fair point on the Italians, but CONI are the more powerful organisation there.

I just think that a lot of crap gets written, that is un-founded, and that damages the sport for no reason.

I agree with Adam's longer post. Let's get over ourselves re old stuff, and just cuss the hell out of those who are actually shown by real evidence to be culpable. The less cycling can talk about itself regarding SPECULATIVE dope stuff, the better.

Just wondering what else lance can do here.....

He is being more transparent that everyone else and creating bag loads of publicity for cycling and for his livestrong foundation. It you look at the livestrong website, its obvious that he is a source of inspiration for thousands if not hundreds of thousands of people. Who else is sticking is head up as much as this these days. Well done to the man I say...

NOt convinced that he will be a real force this year, as he does look a little hagggered in the pictures I've seen, but I'm sure that the media are selecting the right pictures to show us. One thing that you can be sure of though is that he is a winner and will do whats needed to get the best out of himself...

For once Im in agreement with Adam. He hasnt failed a drugs test so its unfair to accuse him of cheating.

He has also consistently been an oustanding athlete since he was 16 years old which would be very hard to do if you were doping.

Doesnt he raise money for Cancer charities which must be a good thing? Ive always wondered though with all the money that is donated to cancer research all over the world, why are the drugs so expensive? Does anybody know why?

He *could* stick to his original promises rather than a much weaker regime without any explanation as to why.

Neither has David Millar, or Bjarne Riis, or a couple of dozen other post-event confessors.

So what!? That doesn't prove he's guilty does it? Ok, so it doesn't prove he's innocent either, but what you are still saying is still unfounded speculation which paints every rider with the same brush. Perhaps car drivers try to run us down because they think we're all on drugs?

What we don't want is new pro riders turning up on their first day of work and being told, are you using the right preparation etc. Then, if their not, no renewal of the contract at the end of the season.
Lance Armstrong is the past, hence the discussion it brings.
