My point was a little more general Marco. I don't know what Armstrong is all about, but I do know his being in the peloton this year is good for cycling as a whole, period.
What I don't like is, and it's not just you, I'm talking more about Lequipe journalists and the like... The fact that despite cyclings best efforts to clean up, the sport is still being killed by people persisting in digging for stories that in all honesty, probably aren't even there anymore. I genuinely believe cycling is cleaner now than it was even this time last year. I have had quite a candid view of professional cycling over the winter, having been around people who know exactly how it works, and I mean what I say. People digging for dirt does nothing to help the sport move on, just leave it to the testers. As we saw at the Tour last year, they do actually work. But constant speculation, and thats all it is, means that a whole generation, including myself, are being punished by the actions of the guys 5-20 years older than us. Is that fair?
If I make it as a pro, I'll probably earn half as much as I would have done 10 years ago. But if people continue to write such bull sh*t, I have no chance of making it at all. So you see, I really do care about this. Let me tell you, I wouldn't ever dope, and I'm fairly confident none of the other guys I know who are looking like making pro would either. So give us a break! The people that write these stories should go work for their governing body and make sure that the guys that do get caught, are properly sanctioned, because at the moment, in Spain, Germany and Kazakistan, thats just not happening. It seems only the Italians are really that tough on doping. Who are going to welcome Armstrong with open arms by the way.
