Redhill CC Sporting TT

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Nope, it's Wescott, then Abinger Hammer, Forest Green, Wallis Wood, Ockley, and finally South Holmwood.

The map of the course is here Adam. Select "GS/478 (Sporting TT Course)" from the dropdown. I like their website :) .

Nasty hill at the start, I know I know but can't remember the bit to Oakwoodhill (think it's okay), that stretch of the A29 is alright (although sometimes has a nasty headwind), and then that lovely bit of the A24 we know and love.

George/Dom any memories from last year as it's the first time I've done this course.

Don't take offense Snoop but expect to see Mr. Tadros quite soon after the start. I'll expect to see him too :roll: .

Keith I don't complain too much anymore, 4.30am seems quite normal to get up after a while :D it's a bit tough at the start of the season when it's still dark though :( . Oh, and you tend to get a lie in for Sportings.

Anyone else riding down? It's about 15 miles from CSS (CR to Reigate then A25). As I'm one of the last of us off I can probably work to anyone elses schedule and then drink tea and eat all the cake 'til my alloted time.

Cheers Andrew, was just curious so when I see times I know their value.

I'll be down at Calshot again Sunday morning so I won't be spectating unfortunately. Was their yesterday too, had some good goes at team pursuiting, team sprinting plus a few devil races at the end. All good fun, had to pull out of the sprints though as my coccyx was just not playing ball. Same again next week, although it's going to be more of a race meet type event... bring it on, I think! Plus a lovely two hour ride round the forest after, 2 hours, 70km... nicely regimented too, you'd have been proud.

Have a good ride everyone!

Andrew, I will be riding down weather permitting but possibly a bit early for you :!:

The hill just after the start is not nice if I remember last year George had 150psi in his tub at the rear and was skipping all over the place going up there :D I just put it in the little ring and spin up remembering to smile for the photographer. The next hill is just gradual big ring job. The secret is not to kill yourself in the first 5 miles.

The country lanes are fine but the A29 is badly surfaced but okay if the wind is on your side. Then just before the end of that you get the countdown markers from 5 miles to go. That's when you have to REALLY start trying :D

Looking forward to it. Depending how fast no 10 is I might even be first man home :twisted:

I can tell you mine now:
Time = poor
Value = training
:D .

Andrew Bye has the course record at 42 mins something according to the Redhill webiste but Pete Tadros broke a course record lat week, only for Ben Instome to smash it 4 minutes later so Mr. Tadros is certainly in good form.

Snoop and I are leaving CSS at 8.30 should anyone want to join us for an easy warm up spin over there, although I expect it is too late for the rest of you as we're both up the arse end of the startsheet. Save me a piece of flapjack back at the HQ please :D .

Ben, I was going to go back down the A25 and up Pebblecombe and then back along the top (CR return) with a little duck through Walton-on-the-Hill before carrying on and swinging through the swingers' estate, fairly easy/steady ride home but just a bit more interesting than A25/A23.

All of the above caveated by the weather, if it's raining then I'm driving there.

Yes, and you will be well inside it. It is based on age, going up the older you get. There are usually prizes attached to it but with some of the super fast older vets about us younger ones don't usually get a look in. For instance Reg Smith is 60 years old and off at a seeded position so he will be very fast and probably in with a shout of the vets prize.
