[quote="Andrew G"]I can tell you mine now:
Time = poor
Hey I was right
. Looks like my do bugger all training method is working
.
I don't really like Sporting TTs, oh yes they are often on some nice enough country lanes which attracts some that wouldn't normally TT, but and it's a big but....there's too many damn draggy bits (and/hills) on them for me
. My theory of trying to race myself fit with these Sporting TTs has resulted in me entering 6 of them I think, oh dear what have I done
.
As it wasn't that far away (about 20 miles) I rode out and rode my normal road bike and left all the go faster pointy bits and bobs at home, if I could get evens it should be okay for now on this course as I'm not doing any (for me)proper racing (i.e. non-sporting so times I'll be more interested in) for a couple of months.
Unlike Keith I hadn't recce'd the course. I knew the hill at the start as it's on the Hilly 50 route, and knew most of the other bits so thought it'd be okay - the far section of the course overlaps with the SCCU Sporting 10 course. There were no real surprises although it did feel like there were more drags than I remembered and someone had made them a bit longer too
. I'd had a brief chat with Pete Tadros at the start and said I'd see him again soon, I did it took only 9 and a bit miles for him to take 7 minutes out of me
. He is incredible as he just flies around these type of courses and having got a course record 2 weeks ago (albeit only for a few minutes before someone else beat him) it wasn't a surprise to see him win today, but he took over a minute off the course record too!
My time wasn't very good (I'd have liked a couple of minutes quicker) but I just about got evens and couldn't really expect much more off the back of a lack of training and winter beer.
Great times by Paul, Matt and Keith, and Dominic, and George must have had wings on his bike. Nabbed a cuppa and a bit of cake before having a ride home with Ben and 2 Robs, who'd ridden out and supported, back over Box Hill.
A well organised event with good marshaling so thanks to Redhill.
